Check Out These Runners To Race In 2021 New York City Marathon

See how to watch live as Jersey City runners take on the 50th Anniversary New York City Marathon 26.2 mile race on Sunday, Nov. 7.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Runners hailing from Jersey City will be among the tens of thousands to tackle one of the most popular road races in the world — the 2021 New York City Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 7.

This year is extra special as it marks the 50th Anniversary of the race. The anniversary was supposed to be celebrated last year but was postponed due to COVID.

The first NYC Marathon took place on Sept. 13, 1970 in Central Park with an entry fee of $1 and a budget of $1,000. Of the 127 registered runners there were 55 finishers.

Now there are more than 50,000 runners from more than 125 countries who will take part in the 50th TCS New York City Marathon course that runs 26.2 miles through the five boroughs of NYC.

Watch the broadcast live on race day on WABC-TV, Channel 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Pre-race coverage from Fort Wadsworth begins at 7 a.m. Live streaming will be available on the ABC App and ABC7NY.com from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The broadcast is also available live on tablets and smartphones with the ABC App in New York and the ESPN App nationwide. Download these apps in the App Store or Google Play. Access to the ABC and ESPN apps is available through participating pay-TV providers.
