Man And Woman Die, 9 Hospitalized In 2-Car Crash: Hudson County Prosecutor
A man and woman died and 9 people were injured in a crash between a BMW and a van on Friday, said Hudson County prosecutors.
HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A man and woman died in an early-morning crash in Hudson County on Friday, prosecutors said.
Police in Kearny headed to the area of 490 Newark-Jersey City Turnpike in Kearny around 3:30 a.m. on Friday to investigate a crash between a BMW sedan and a Ford Transit Van, said the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.
The male driver of the BMW and a female passenger were fatally injured in the crash, prosecutors said. They were both pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 4:45 a.m., prosecutors said. Their identities are being withheld pending positive identification and notification of next of kin, they said.

Of the nine people in the transit van — all of whom were from Canada and New York State, according to prosecutors — seven were taken to University Hospital in Newark and two were taken to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment for their injures.
Prosecutors said that among the injured, one was listed in critical but stable condition.

Prosecutors said the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and Kearny Police Department are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
