Northern Trust Donates Van To Jersey City VFW Post

The Northern Trust gave the van to the post's commander Tony Goodson Thursday. The post will use the van to help local veterans.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Local veterans will be able to get around easier thanks to a van donated to the local Veterans of Foreign Post by The Northern Trust.

The donation was part of The Northern Trusts' celebration of Military Appreciation Day Thursday at The Northern Trust at Liberty National Golf Club.

The 15-passenger van was presented to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2294 Commander Tony Goodson. It is the only VFW post in Jersey City. Goodson is a Purple Heart recipient and Vietnam War veteran.

The van will be outfitted to be handicapped accessible to meet the needs of the post's veterans.

The Northern Trust also held a Purple Heart day Wednesday. Purple ribbons were presented to Purple Heart recipients and their families.
