Prosecutor's Investigate Fatal Hit-and-Run In Jersey City
A 34-year-old man was hit by a car on Route 440 — the car left the area and the man died of his injuries.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — A Jersey City man was hit by a car on Route 440 on Wednesday night and died of his injuries. The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office is investigating the crash after the car that hit the man left the area.
The crash happened just after 9:30 p.m. around 740 Route 440 in Jersey City. The man who was hit was identified as Phillip Delancy, age 36, from Jersey City. He was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center and pronounced dead at 10:25 p.m.
The cause and manner of death are pending an investigation by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
