Roads In Hudson County To Close For Jersey City Marathon
More than 9,000 runners will participate in the Jersey City Marathon for a $50K purse prize. Some roads will close to parking and traffic.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — The 2025 Jersey City Marathon and Half Marathon will be held this Sunday near the waterfront.
The race has drawn 9,679 registrants this year, coming from 46 states and 36 countries. They'll compete for a prize purse of $50,000, organizers said.
The race is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.

The race consists of both marathon and half marathon distances. It will start in the Newport Green area, across the water from Lower Manhattan, and proceed through downtown.
Street Closures, Parking

Parking will be prohibited on certain streets in the area from Friday night, a minute before midnight, through Sunday at 3 p.m.
Washington Blvd. will close to traffic at 4 a.m. on Sunday, and several other streets will close from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The marathon and half marathon are USA Track & Field sanctioned events on a certified course, the organizers said, calling it "one of the fastest and flattest courses in the world."
The number of marathon participants has nearly doubled, up from 5,500 last year. The half marathon is sold out with 5,865 participants.
The races will start at 7 a.m. Finishing times are expected from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
There will be prizes for male, female, and nonbinary competitors.
The race is produced by the Jersey City Road Runners, a non-profit organization, in conjunction with the city of Jersey City.
