Son Fatally Shot Father In Jersey City: Prosecutor

A man was charged with murder on Sunday after his father was shot to death the night before.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A man has been arrested for fatally shooting his father on Saturday night, said the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.

Gerard Brooker Jr., 25 of Jersey City, was arrested in Manhattan on Sunday morning in connection with the death of Gerard Brooker Sr., 52, prosecutors said Sunday.

Prosecutors say that at approximately 8:15 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a shooting at 117-121 Wade St., in the city's Greenville section.

Police found Brooker Sr. unresponsive inside a unit in the building, with apparent gunshot wounds.

Brooker Jr. was arrested just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday, prosecutors said. He was charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
