NJ Man Who Murdered His Mother Sentenced

A man who killed his mother in Hudson County was sentenced to state prison last week.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A 38-year-old man who murdered his mother in 2021 received his sentence in court Thursday.

Emmanuel Gonzalez, of West New York, was sentenced to 45 years in New Jersey State Prison, said the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutors said that on Jan. 14, 2021, around 1:30 p.m., the West New York police responded to 439 66th St. on a report of an unresponsive woman.

Her son met them and directed them to a bedroom where Irma Gonzalez, 62 was found. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma.

Gonzalez was tried for murder in January of this year and found guilty, prosecutors said.

His sentence is subject to the No Early Release Act.
