Trader Joe's May Be Coming To Jersey City, Says SID

A downtown Jersey City business group hinted that Trader Joe's is coming to the city.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Is a Trader Joe's supermarket coming to downtown Jersey City?

A non-profit group for downtown Jersey City businesses hinted at the possibility on Friday.

"Rumor has it that Trader Joe’s is in the final stages of signing a lease right here in Downtown Jersey City, with plans to open in 2026!" said the Historic Downtown Special Improvement District in a social media post on Friday. "That’s all we can say for now."

The SID often posts early news of businesses coming to the area.

"I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited for anything in my life," posted one commenter.

Trader Joe's is known for affordable produce and meal options, as well as unique seasonal offerings.

They currently have locations in Hoboken and Edgewater.

Some have suggested the grocery store may be coming to a new building at 55 Hudson St., on the waterfront.
