Residents posting online said the boy was bicycling with his father near his home in the Hamilton Park neighborhood, and that he was hit by a delivery van.
The police spokesperson said the driver was cooperating with authorities, and no charges had been filed as of Friday.
The vigil will be held at 7 p.m., said the groups. "All are welcome," they said.
