Beautiful Spirit, Abandoned By Family, Needs A Loving Home
Ailing older dog on the road to recovery, will eventually be available for adoption.

LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - The older dog arrived at the Popcorn Park shelter weak, dehydrated and neglected.
Her name is Spirit. She had a good life with her elderly owner, but her life changed when he had to go into assisted living. His son was supposed to take over Spirit's care, but instead he moved out of state and abandoned her.
Fortunately, a neighbor learned of the dog's plight, took care of her and brought her to Popcorn Park.

"Since that day, we have been doing everything in our power to help Spirit put that sad experience behind her," according to the Associated Human Popcorn Park Shelter's Facebook page.
They put her up in the Vinnie Van Gogh recovery suite, where she is resting, relaxing and being treated for infections of her eyes, ears and skin. She is also being treated for age-related arthritis issues.

The fleas and tapeworms she had when she arrived are gone. The shelter is still running tests on Spirit to rule out any other medical conditions.
But so far, she is doing well.
"She has a very good appetite, she enjoys long walks throughout the day and absolutely loves getting attention," the post states. "Finally, life is good for Spirit."
Spirit will eventually be available for adoption. If you would like to help with her car, please test ResQ to 501501 to make a $10 donations, or click here to donate to the shelter's rescue fund.
