Controlled Burns Continue In Forked River Mountain Area

LACEY, NJ — Lacey residents might smell smoke throughout Monday and Tuesday. Don't be alarmed.

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service will conduct controlled burns in the Forked River Mountain Wilderness on Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The area will be closed to the public while burning is conducted. Residents should expect to see smoky conditions in surrounding areas.

Controlled burning is conducted during cooler months. It reduces fuel buildup and decreases the likelihood of more serious fires.
