Dog Who Has Been Through So Much Needs Your Help

Dog was rescued in horrific condition and is recovering at the shelter.

LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Mama has been through a lot. It's no wonder she looks so sad.

Mama was brought to the shelter bleeding and in pain by a person who claimed to have found the distraught dog "nesting" in his backyard, according a post on the Associated Human Societies Popcorn Park Animal Shelter Facebook page.

His claims that the dog just wandered into his backyard turned out not to be true.

Mama was in labor, having trouble and needed emergency surgery.

"Sadly, all of her puppies died and had to be surgically removed," the post states. "Mama also needed her uterus removed as she was suffering with pyometra, a life-threatening condition. Mama came through her surgery like a real trooper and now, it's time to begin on the road to recovery."
