Girl Scout Troop To Create Movie For Lacey's 150th Anniversary

Girl Scout Troop 50249 is currently seeking nominations for residents who have stories to tell about Lacey Township.

LACEY, NJ — Girl Scout Troop 50249 is creating a movie in celebration of Lacey Township’s 150th anniversary. The troop is currently seeking nominations for residents who have stories to tell about the town.

Through this online form, people can submit nominations until Wednesday, Jan. 27. Producing the movie is also the girl scout troop’s bronze award project.

“We’re looking for people who have lived here a long time, who really love everything Lacey, who are always a part of things and are working toward growing the town,” Darcie King, a scout leader of the troop, told Patch.

King, who manages her own video production company and has mentored high school students in video competitions, will guide the scouts during the project and help produce the movie.

The 90-minute video's theme is “Live it. Love it. Be part of it,” to show what it’s like to live in Lacey Township at this moment in time.

“There’s been videos done about the history of Lacey and things reflecting on that, but this is more of a time capsule of where we are now,” King said. “People can look back at this and see what the town was like, and it becomes a part of history.”

While the scouts work on the project throughout the spring, they will serve as producers for the video, and lead the planning, interviewing and editing.

The troop will also accommodate virtual interviews for people who may not want to participate in in-person interviews.

Depending on public gathering limitations, King said Lacey Township officials hope to showcase the movie during the summer for a 150th anniversary celebration event.
