Pies On Nine South Donates 15 Pizzas To Soup Kitchen
The pies are donated through Slice Out Hunger, a nationwide campaign fighting food insecurity on National Pizza Day.

FORKED RIVER, NJ — National Pizza Day is Feb. 9. In honor of that, a local pizzeria is donating 15 pies to a soup kitchen to help fight food insecurity.
On Feb. 7, Pies On Nine South will be donating 15 pizzas to the soup kitchen at Lacey United Methodist Church as part of the largest pizza delivery in the country.
The "Pizza Across America" campaign is coordinated by Slice Out Hunger, a nationwide nonprofit that fights food insecurity through pizza-themed campaigns and events.

This is Pies On Nine South's first year participating.
"We are participating because we love to help out local community and give back when we can," said Brandi DiGiovanna of Pies On Nine South. "The soup kitchen feeds up to 50 people twice a week and I think that is so amazing. It is the least we can do. I love that I came across this event and I hope that more pizzerias see this and join in on helping other soup kitchens."

Pizza Across America co-founder Carmine Testa said that this program is a way for pizzerias to give back and support the communities that they depend on.
"In my eyes, the best way to celebrate National Pizza Day is by helping others and giving back to our local communities," Testa said. "We are thrilled to have Pies On Nine South participating in our largest pizza delivery yet, and we couldn't do it without their support!"
The campaign was first developed by "World Pizza Champions" Testa and his sons Michael and Nicky, known as the "Jersey Pizza Boys," along with Slice Out Hunger in 2018.
