Portion of McDonald's Dining Room Still Closed After Car Accident

Dining area reopened on Monday, although a small portion remains closed, after a 73-year-old man struck the building with his motor vehicle

Windows remain boarded and a portion of the dining area is still closed to patrons at the Lanoka Harbor McDonald’s after a on Sunday afternoon.

Robert Craven, 73, of Lakewood allegedly drove through the north side of McDonald’s after he failed to stop while attempting to park. The vehicle continued over the curb, across the sidewalk and into the building.

No injuries were reported but the building was severely damaged as an approximate 6-foot-by-12-foot section of aluminum glass of the restaurant’s wall was broken.

Shattered glass was thrown throughout McDonald’s dining room, and two booths and tables were damaged. The restaurant was forced to close its dining room on Sunday but only a portion remains closed today.

One entrance is still blocked off but patrons are able to use another doorway to enter the building. The drive-through is also opened.

The Lacey Township construction official has examined the building, and the accident remains under investigation, police said.

The store manager declined to comment citing corporate policy. The spokesperson for McDonald’s did not immediately return request for comment.
