Recreational Marijuana Is Now Available At Waretown Dispensary
Bloc Dispensary, the county's first medical cannabis business, has expanded to recreational use.

WARETOWN, NJ — Ocean County residents have more options for recreational cannabis now, as Bloc Dispensary began recreational adult use cannabis sales on Nov. 10.
Bloc Dispensary opened in July, originally only for medical sales, as that is what the Township of Ocean (Waretown) required by law at the time. Read more: Medical Cannabis Comes To Southern Ocean With Bloc Dispensary
But Waretown amended the laws in August to allow for recreational sales at Bloc, saying the additional two percent revenue the township would get from adult use would help keep tax increases lower as costs rise across the board.

"Without this additional funding there would be a substantial increase in the municipal tax rate," Committeeman Ben LoPoro said at the time.
Local police spoke with South Toms River police, home of the county's first recreational marijuana business, and learned that they had no issues since its opening.

The ordinance passed 2-1, with Mayor Ken Baulderstone abstaining.
Only South Toms River, Waretown and Lakehurst allow cannabis sales in Ocean County. Lakehurst's dispensary, High Profile Dispensary, isn't set to open until Dec. 30.
