Which Road in Lacey Needs a Speed Bump?

We asked Patch readers on Facebook what streets they thought needed a speed bump. Find out what your neighbors told us.

Lacey, N.J.- Over 9,000 fatalities occurred nationally during 2014 due to speeding according to the latest statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The data also shows a correlation between a driver’s age and the likelihood of a speed-related accident. As the age of a driver increases, their risk of being in an accident decreases. Men are also more likely to be at the wheel during a speeding accident, according to the study.

While the number of speed-related fatalities have continually decreased since 2005, speeding still remains an issue in many of our Patch communities, including Lacey. Readers suggested everything from increased police presence to more stop signs to building less housing to keep traffic at bay.

  • "Beach Blvd."
  • "Lakeside North by Baldwin St. People fly to cut to the parkway and avoid Lacey Rd. My kids can't even ride their bikes outside our house. SLOW DOWN!"
  • "Constitution Dr. We just moved to the block a year ago and immediately noticed people speeding up and down this road. I'm afraid to let my kid ride their bike out front."
  • "Lakeside Drive North going past the Beach area, to encourage cars to go slower while children are walking, riding bikes, to the beach area."
  • "Kearny Ave. I lived there when my kids were small and wouldn't let them play out front. People fly up and down with no clue. That was one of the reasons I moved from that street."
  • "We need a light at lake Barnegat and Haines! At least at certain times during the day, when school is in session!"
  • "Vaughn Avenue. Thats why I moved out of there."
  • "Western Boulevard. I live right on Western Boulevard near Mill Pond and Cedarcreek and people drag race up and down that road."
  • "I don't know about speed bumps, the bigger issue is that Lacey road has become an accident waiting to happen and could really use a lane down the middle designated for making turns."
