Football Season Kicks Off: Lakewood High School 2023 Football Schedule

LAKEWOOD, NJ — The waning days of August are usually reserved for last-licks trips to the beach, hanging out with friends and soaking in the last bits of summer.

In 2023, however, summer is ending a little bit earlier for high school football teams, including Lakewood High School.

The season kicks off Friday night, Aug. 25, for most teams in New Jersey as the NJSIAA — the governing body for high school sports in New Jersey — made adjustments to the start of the season to accommodate an expanded playoff season.

Lakewood's first game is set for Sept. 2.

Lakewood, under coach LJ Clark, is looking to improve on its 2022 season, where the Piners finished 4-6.

Here is the full regular-season schedule for 2023:

• Sept. 2 vs. Neptune, 1 p.m.
• Sept. 9 at Keyport, noon
• Sept. 15 at Point Pleasant Beach, 7 p.m.
• Sept. 23 vs. Jackson Liberty, 6 p.m.
• Sept. 29 at Toms River East, 6 p.m.
• Oct. 7 vs. Keansburg, 2 p.m.
• Oct. 13 at Central Regional, 7 p.m.
• Oct. 21 vs. Manchester Township, 1 p.m.
• Nov. 4 vs. KIPP Cooper Norcross Academy, 1 p.m.
