Brian Shevlin Named Deputy First Assistant Prosecutor In Mercer County

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Brian Shevlin has been appointed deputy first assistant prosecutor, Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey recently said. DFAP Shevlin was sworn in on Oct. 6, by the Honorable Amber J. Gibbs, J.S.C., at the Mercer County Criminal Courthouse.

Shevlin began his prosecutorial career at the MCPO as an assistant prosecutor in 2001. During his five and a half years with the office, he was assigned to the Grand Jury, Civil Forfeiture, Domestic Violence, and Internal Affairs units. He also served as a trial team leader for two years.

In 2014, Shevlin went to work at the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office for seven and a half years as the Special Victims Unit supervisor. He has spent the last decade with the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office serving in leadership roles like trial team leader, Special Victims Unit section chief, and, most recently, deputy first assistant prosecutor.

Shevlin previously worked as an associate at Hoagland, Longo, Moran, Dunst & Doukas in New Brunswick. He also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Helen E. Hoens, J.S.C., in Somerset County Superior Court.

Shevlin earned his bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University, his master’s degree in criminal justice from Rutgers University and his law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law.
