Cut in Cable Knocks Out Municipal Phone Lines

At 11 a.m. today, Friday, Sept. 30, the following advisory was posted on the Lawrence Township website:

Please be advised that due to a cut in a fiber optic cable, the township phones are not working. It is anticipated that the phone lines will be working again between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

While regular phones to the municipal building and different offices in the township police and courts facility are not working, the township's 911 lines remain unaffected, a police spokesman said.

All 911 emergency phone calls are being received as normal in the communications center at police headquarters, Lt. Charles Edgar said.
