Grounds for Sculpture to Offer Free Admission to First Responders on 9/11 Anniversary

Firefighters, police officers and emergency medical personnel and their families are invited to visit the sculpture park and arboretum in Hamilton Township free of charge on Sunday, Sept. 11, for "a day of contemplation and remembrance."

Grounds For Sculpture, the 42-acre sculpture park and arboretum in Hamilton, N.J., enthusiastically and gratefully invites all first responders — including fire, police, and emergency medical technician personnel — and their immediate families to visit free of charge on Sept. 11.

With valid ID, all first responders and their spouses/partners and children can enjoy the tranquil beauty of the park for a day of contemplation and remembrance as tribute and thanks for their selfless service and to honor the memory of all the brave first responders of Sept. 11, 2001.

2011 marks the 10th consecutive year Grounds For Sculpture has memorialized this tragic day, receiving many thousands of visitors who find in its gardens and its inspiring artwork solace and healing.  

In addition, GFS will donate 50 percent of the proceeds of admission charged to the general public on that day to the Twin Towers Orphan Fund, which provides educational and welfare assistance to the children who were orphaned by the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

Grounds For Sculpture, located in Hamilton, N.J. (midway between Philadelphia and New York), is a 42-acre sculpture garden and arboretum on the former site of the New Jersey State Fairgrounds. Founded by Seward Johnson to promote an understanding and appreciation of contemporary sculpture, the park has been enchanting visitors since 1992.

Grounds For Sculpture features more than 270 contemporary sculptures, and two 10,000-square-foot museum galleries with rotating exhibits. In addition, the park offers workshops for children and adults, concerts, performances, fairs, shopping and fine dining at the Zagat’s-rated Rat’s Restaurant.
