There are three age brackets for the triathlon: 6-9 years old; 10-12 years old; and 13-15 years old. Participants in all three age brackets will swim, bike and run.
The 6- to 9-year-olds will swim 50 meters in the LSA pool; the 10- to 12-year-olds will swim 100 meters; and the 13- to 15-year-olds will swim 200 meters.Â
After they get out of the pool, all participants will do a 2-mile bike ride from Craven Lane to Village Park and back to the starting point. Then they'll do the run, along Craven Lane and other quiet neighboring side streets.
The youngest competitors will run seven-tenths (0.7) of a mile, while the two older age groups will run 1½ miles.
Last year’s triathlon raised $1,600 that went toward the Independence Weekend fireworks show held this past July.
