Varsity football coach Ken Mills will coach his 100th game for Lawrenceville on Saturday, Sept. 17. Big Red will be on the road to take on the Haverford School (Haverford, Pa.); kickoff is at 2:30 p.m. Mills' career coaching record stands at 47-52 as Lawrenceville looks to repeat in 2011 as Mid-Atlantic Prep League (MAPL) Champions.
"It is a real honor and a privilege to coach at Lawrenceville. As both a teacher and a coach, it is very rewarding to see Lawrenceville student athletes excel in both the classroom and on the football field," said Mills. "I have been very lucky to work with coaches over the years who truly understand the unique commitment it takes to play football — especially so at Lawrenceville. It is a joy to work with coaches who are passionate about the game, but who also understand that family and academics come first and that having fun is an important part of the team experience."

Mills has been part of the Lawrenceville family since 1982 when he joined the faculty as a science teacher and an assistant coach for Ken Keuffel — Lawrenceville's legendary single-wing coach. In 2000, Mills took over as head coach and in 2002 led the team to a 7-2 record and Big Red's first MAPL title. The 2002 team was recognized by the Newark Star Ledger, Trenton Times, and Trentonian as the top prep school team in New Jersey, and Mills earned "Coach of the Year" honors from the same three publications.
In March 2005, Mills was honored for Lawrenceville's continued success on the football field when he was named the 2005 Hank Johns Memorial Coach of the Year by the Delaware Valley Chapter of the National Football Foundation.
