Letter to the Editor: Ten Years Later...
The author is Mercer County Freeholder John A. Cimino

Ten years later....
Children born in 2001 are entering 4th grade, couples married are celebrating a decade of marriage, many of us in Mercer County have had monumental changes in our lives over the past 10 years....for over two dozen families locally, the world stood still 10 years ago this week. Â
Our county lost 27 residents and friends on Sept. 11, 2001. Mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, aunts, uncles and friends who made a difference in the lives of all they touched. Â As we prepare to remember the 10th anniversary of this tragic event we also can't forget the medical personnel, law enforcement and firefighters who raced to Ground Zero to do anything they could to help in the days and weeks following this tragic day. As my children begin to learn about history and specifically, New Jersey history, I plan to teach them about the contributions of our friends, and the efforts of our first responders.  My wife Jeannine and I plan to visit the memorial that will be dedicated to the memory of those we lost that horrific day and for those that sacrificed their own safety to unselfishly help others. We will teach our children the significance of the steel beam and what it means to us as individuals. Â
Ten years has been a lifetime to some.......for all it should be a time of reflection and remembrance. I hope that you will take time to visit the Mercer County 9/11 Memorial in Mercer County Park as well.
