The Lawrence High School Science Olympiad Team earlier this spring competed at the state competition at Middlesex County College.
The Thermodynamics Team, composed of Viktor Krapivin and Vai Pahwa, took an impressive second place in their event. For Thermodynamics, students were required to construct an insulated device (designed to retain heat) prior to the tournament and complete a written test on thermodynamic concepts.
The LHS team as a whole received the Mary K. Masterson Memorial Spirit Award for initiatives in sportsmanship, clarity, and team poster design.
