Mercer Man Charged For Fatally Shooting Lawrence Resident In Living Room: Prosecutor

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – A Trenton man was charged for fatally shooting a Lawrence resident in his living room on Aug. 11, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo Onofri and Lawrence Police Chief Chris Longo said Thursday.

Paul X. McNeil, 37, was charged with one count of first-degree murder, one count of first-degree felony murder, one count of first-degree robbery, and three weapons offenses in the shooting death of Anthony Irizarry.

He was served his charges this week at the Mercer County Correction Center where he is being detained on an unrelated case, Onofri said.

On August 11, around 12:30 a.m. Lawrence police responded to a home on Mendrey Court after receiving a 911 phone call that someone had been shot. On arrival, officers found 36-year-old Irizarry in the living room suffering from a gunshot wound to the back.

He was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
