New Jersey National Guard personnel helped with Hurricane Irene evacuations.

New Jersey National Guard helicopters flying over Lawrence Township have been a common sight ever since the rains of Hurricane Irene stopped falling on Sunday. Multiple times each day since then, choppers have flown in and out of the National Guard armory on Eggerts Crossing Road.

National Guard personnel and trucks were called in on Sunday to help volunteer firefighters evacuate dozens of people from several flooded buildings in the area of Franklin Corner Road and Route 1 on Sunday (Aug. 28).
