Terhune Orchard's Apple Day Festival This Weekend

The farm, on Cold Soil Road in Lawrence Township, will offer a variety of events and live bands every weekend through October during its Fall Harvest Festival Weekends.

will host its annual Apple Day Festival this Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 17-18, at the farm located at 330 Cold Soil Rd. in Lawrence Township. And the fun will continue all the way through the month of October as the farm holds its Fall Harvest Festival Weekends.

“Owners Pam and Gary Mount and family love sharing their beautiful farm with everyone young and old. Everything great about fall is on the farm – pumpkins, apples, cider, Indian corn and cornstalks; lots of nature’s most beautiful decorations,” according to a Terhune’s news release.

Visitors will be able to ride a wagon around the farm, pick their own apples and pumpkins, and try to find their way through a corn stalk maze. Children, meanwhile, will enjoy riding a pony in the pasture, visiting with farm animals, and learning about “Legends and Lore of New Jersey” – like the Jersey Devil and the Martian landing at Grovers Mill – in the farm’s “Adventure Barn.”

“Fall is apple and pumpkin time on the farm. Our huge pumpkin patch is open for pick-your-own pumpkins.  Choosing just the right one for your jack-o-lantern is often a family affair. The farmyard is loaded with piles of pumpkins as well.  Each weekend we will have a pumpkin painting station set up for children to decorate their own pumpkins,” according to the news release.

Homemade soup and chili, barbequed chicken, pork sandwiches, hot dogs, salads, cookies, apple pie and cider will be sold. And, for adults, Terhune’s wine tasting room will offer samples of the farm’s apple wine and new fruit blends.

Entries in the farm’s photo contest – "Picture Perfect at Terhune Orchards" – will be on display in the farm’s old barn. Local country and bluegrass bands will play each Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. through October.

Fall Harvest Festival Weekends will take place Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine. Admission is $5, with children under 3 free. No admission fee is needed for Terhune’s farm market, wine tasting room and or Terhune’s “pick-your-own” farm on Van Kirk Road.
