Two Standouts Lead Rider Softball Squad

This Year's Starts Mean Bright Future for Rider Softball

Junior Kehli Washington (Lulea, Sweden) and freshman Dana Sensi (Allentown) of the Rider University softball team were recognized by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Thursday evening with Washington earning First Team All-MAAC recognition and Sensi garnering a spot on the All- MAAC Second Team.

Washington, who was a Second Team All-MAAC selection as a sophomore, started all 49 games and led the Broncs in hitting (.349), on-base percentage (.410), runs scored (34), hits (54), triples (1) and stolen bases (24).  Washington handled 87 of 88 chances in the outfield for a fielding percentage of .989.

Washington led Rider with 13 multiple hit games and had a 12 game hitting streak and a 21 game reached base streak during the season.

Washington led the conference in stolen bases and was fifth in the MAAC in hits and 13th in batting average.

A 141 game veteran, Washington enters her senior season with 140 hits, 25th best all-time at Rider.

Sensi also started all 49 games for Rider and batted .320 with a team-leading .484 slugging percentage.  Sensi led the team with 27 RBI and six home runs as well as total bases (74) and was second on the team in hits (49), runs scored (22) and doubles (7).

Sensi had 12 multiple hit and six multiple RBI games and she was 22nd in the MAAC in batting average.

Rider (8-41, 3-13 MAAC) is slated to return all 14 letter winners for the 2014 season.
