Conference Schedule Remains in Place for Little Silver Schools
Parents wanted to eliminate upcoming half-days to accommodate conferences after missing two weeks following Sandy.

The Little Silver School District will go ahead with plans for half-days to accommodate conferences starting Thursday.
And that's final.
The district's superintendent, Dr. Carolyn Kossack, made the announcement to maintain the school calendar, which included half-days beginning Nov. 15 through the Thanksgiving holiday, earlier this week. But at Monday's PTO meeting, enough parents expressed the desire to make up lost instructional time with full days that Kossack agreed to revisit the issue.

"I did, in fact, review the situation again with the other members of the administrative team," Kossack wrote in an e-mail sent out through Two River Alert on Wednesday afternoon. "We again considered a variety of options. After another lengthy discussion, we decided to maintain the existing schedule."
Kossack said the month had already been "fragmented," but assured parents that the six days missed following the storm would be made up and a revised calendar would be released following approval by the board of education.
