Little Silver Sees Slight Nonviolent Crime Increase in February Over 2012
Crime statistics in released to the New Jersey State Police compared February 2013 to February 2012.
Little Silver saw a slight bump in nonviolent crime in February of this year when compared to 2012.
The New Jersey State Police Uniform Crime Reporting Unit has taken a significant step forward in reporting crime throughout the state. A link was placed on the public web site that connects users to very recent and comparative crime data for municipalities and counties. The data is updated every week, or as often as municipalities provide fresh numbers.
Data is compared to the same month of the previous year.

Overall, eight incidents were reported this year while seven were reported in 2012.
Little Silver reported two simple assaults in the borough in February 2012 while only one simple assault was reported this year. No serious assaults, which count toward the violent crime index, were reported in either February 2012 or February 2013.

There were two instances of burglary by unlawful entry in February of this year, as compared to one in February 2012.
Five larceny incidents were reported in February 2013 and four larceny incidents were reported in February 2012.
The larceny and burglary reports count toward the nonviolent crime index, with seven total incidents in February 2013 as compared to five in February 2012.
