New Biz Admin for Oceanport Schools

The district will have an interim business administrator while it wrestles with how to move forward with the position.

The Oceanport School District will hire an interim business administrator while it studies whether it's a position that can be shared with neighboring districts.

Kathleen Mandeville, who started Nov. 1, replaces Norma Tursi whose resignation was effective at the end of October.

Mandeville was hired through the Monmouth Ocean Educational Services Commission on a month-to-month basis, according to Oceanport Schools Superintendent Andrew Orefice. He was unable to discuss the salary until it is approved at the Nov. 29 board of education meeting.

According to board president Colin Soyer, the personnel committee's initial candidate to fill the temporary business administrator position was declined by the county superintendent because of the salary.

"We're still looking at the postion very closely," he added, "and all options are on the table, including shared services."
