FEMA Offering Rebuilding Advice For Residents at West Long Branch Home Depot

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has advice to help residents build stronger, safer and smarter in the wake of superstorm Sandy.

If your home has been damaged and you want to get it back to where it was before Hurricane Sandy or, maybe you are looking to rebuild, you can get advice from FEMA representatives at the Home Depot store at 310 Route 36 in West Long Branch. 

Hazard mitigation specialists from FEMA will be at this location from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Wednesday, Nov. 28 until Monday, Dec. 3 to answer questions. They provide information on building techniques that reduce the potential for damage to your home, business and property from future disasters.

Besides answering your questions, they will offer other home improvement tips and techniques:

• Proper mold and mildew clean-up;
• Flood- and wind-resistant building methods;
• Wind straps;
• Flood insurance;
• Suggestions to make homes stronger and safer;
• Retrofitting buildings;
• Elevating utilities.

Free publications on these topics are available, and there is no charge to talk with the specialists.

FEMA specialists are available at other locations in New Jersey including the Home Depot at 1334 Lakewood Road in Toms River and in Middlesex County at the Lowe’s at 51 Woodbridge Center Drive, Woodbridge.
