Long Branch Detective Charged With Careless, Reckless Driving In Fatal Accident: Report

LONG BRANCH - A city police detective involved in a fatal pedestrian crash has been charged with reckless and careless driving, according to a report on app.com.
Detective Jake Pascucci was issued the summonses on Oct. 20, less than a month after Stanhope resident Karen Borkowski, 66, was killed.
Pascucci was off-duty at the time of the Sept. 22 accident and driving south on Ocean Boulevard when his 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee struck Borkowski in the roadway near Broadway.

A computer-assisted dispatch log from city police the night of the crash indicates a caller said Borkowski "went flying" after the collision, according to the report.
The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office turned the case over to the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office.
