Possible Threat At Monmouth University Reported [UPDATE]
Monmouth University police are investigating a possible "suspicious" person on campus.

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ - Monmouth University police are investigating a possible "suspicious" person on campus reported by another student, a spokesperson for the university said Thursday night.
"Everything is fine," said spokesperson Tara Peters. "A student had an encounter with a suspicious person and they reported it to the police."
The earlier post on the Monmouth University Facebook page reported a "possible threat" on campus, which then "blew up" on social media, she said.

The matter is being investigated, no person has been located and no threat has been confirmed, according to the Facebook post.
"The campus is safe at this time and operating under normal conditions," the post states.

West Long Branch police said they were not aware of any threat on the Monmouth campus. The university has its own police force.
