St. Dorothea's Church in Eatontown Has 'High Hopes' For New Pope
The white smoke appeared on Wednesday, signalling that the conclave had chosen Argentine Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio to be the new head of the Catholic Church.

After just two days of papal conclave, Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, 76 of Argentina, has been elected the new head of the Catholic Church.
With his chosen name of Francis, he is the first Jesuit and first Latin American pope in the Catholic Church.
Father Charles Schwartz of St. Dorothea's Church, 240 Broad St., Eatontown, said he has was "pleased" with the selection.

"He's very personable and he seems to be very smart, so I have high hopes," Schwartz said. "I'm impressed with his humility, the first thing he did was pray with the people."
"His selection came as a bit of a surprise," Schwartz added. "He wasn't one of the people they were talking about. But, that's how the holy spirit works."

It only took two days for millions of Catholics around the world to see the white smoke at The Vatican. Bergoglio received the second most votes in the last papal election, when Pope Benedict XVI was elected.
