Baseball Community To Honor Late Coach With Renaming Of Long Valley Field

John Gutowski will be remembered at June 4 ceremony at Palmer Park.

LONG VALLEY, N.J. – For all John Gutowski did in the community, it’s the least the community could do for him.

Gutowski died last year at the age of 51, leaving behind three children and a wife, as well as a lasting legacy as a youth sports coach and local businessman.

For all his work on the baseball field, it’s now time for the community to honor his efforts as a youth sports coach.

A ceremony will be held Saturday, June 4 at Palmer Park’s field 3 with the unveiling of a new sign on the scoreboard and naming of the field after Gutowski.

The ceremony begins at 12:30 p.m. Former players, friends, and Gutowski’s family, including his wife, Connie, and their sons John and Christopher, and daughter Jessica will participate in the ceremony.

The public is encouraged to attend and refreshments will be served.
