Dog Census Resumes In Long Valley This Month
Township workers will be roaming neighborhoods on foot and in vehicles to keep tabs on number of dogs in town.

LONG VALLEY, N.J. – Beginning in late June, Washington Township will begin a second year of taking a dog census.
The township announced this week it will be resuming the dog census it began last summer and census takers will be on foot or in township cars in neighborhoods not visited last year.
Census takers will be identifiable by a Washington Township shirt and ID card beginning June 20.

All cats and dogs in town must be licensed annually with valid rabies shots through Nov. 1 of the licensing year.
For 2016 fees were reduced to $10 and $9 for dogs and cats respectively. For any payment made after Jan. 31, 2016, there is a late fee of $4 each month per animal.
