Police, Public Works Spending Budgets To Be Presented At Long Valley Meeting

Washington Township Committee also plans to discuss the turf field feasibility results for Palmer Park at the special meeting on Thursday.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — The Washington Township Committee plans to meet on Thursday at 7 p.m. for the first in a series of special budget meetings.

The in-person meeting is planned at the municipal building on 43 Schooley’s Mountain Road. There is no virtual component for the meeting.

Turf field feasibility results and budget requests from the police department and department of public works are on the agenda for discussion. The turf field project is planned for Palmer Park, with costs, field lining, stormwater management and ongoing costs, planned for Thursday's discussion. See more information about the project here.

“Anyone that wants to listen and participate, can attend the meeting,” Mayor Matt Murello emailed to Patch. “Residents are invited to attend and participate in any and all of the meetings.”

Murello told Patch that a preliminary budget will not be posted, but a summary will be in advance of the third meeting on Feb. 17, “before the committee makes decisions.”

Meeting minutes are expected to be posted after they are approved.

“The budget will be introduced at the March committee meetings,” Murello wrote.

The second budget meeting is planned on Tuesday beginning at 7 p.m. at the municipal building. The third meeting is scheduled on Feb. 17 starting at 7 p.m., also at the municipal building.

The Township Committee’s March meetings are scheduled on March 16 and 21, both beginning at 7 p.m. in the municipal building.
