Rt. 46 Paving Begins Thursday, Will Shut Lanes For 2.5 Miles

Construction will take place during overnight hours, DOT says.

A $1.9 million project is about to go full steam ahead on Route 46 in Mt. Olive, bringing milling and paving to 2.5 miles of roadway.

Beginning Thursday, June 2, from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. weeknights Monday through Friday, Schifano Construction Corporation will temporarily close alternating lanes in both directions of Route 46 between Naughright/Sand Shore Road and Woodsedge Avenue, the Department of Transportation announced.

On Saturday mornings the lane closures may extend until 7 a.m.

The state-funded project was announced in February and utility and curb work began earlier in the spring.

The duration of the project was not announced, with the DOT stating milling and paving is subject to weather.
