Sports Victories Emerge From Long Valley: Reports

West Morris Central Boys basketball and swim teams are heading to next competitions, per NJ.com reports.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — The boys basketball and swim teams saw victories over the weekend, as well as wrestler Marisa DiPaolo, who was runner-up in the NJSIAA North Region finals, according to reports from NJ.com.

The West Morris Central High School boys basketball team won the Morris County Tournament quarterfinal round on Saturday versus Morris Catholic High School, 77-71, at Randolph High School, NJ.com reported. The team heads to the semifinals at County College of Morris to face Delbarton, in a game scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. West Morris girls basketball team faced Morristown on Saturday, Morristown taking the lead, 37-20.

The boys swim team had a victory in its NJSIAA meet against McNair Academic High School at that team’s high school in Jersey City on Friday, according to NJ.com. In the North 2, Group C Tournament quarterfinals, West Morris Central took the meet, 88-82. West Morris Central is expected to head to the semifinals on Monday against Bernards High School. On Saturday, West Morris Central Girls swim team faced Parsippany Hills High School, with Parsippany taking the lead 88-82.

West Morris Central High School’s Marisa DiPaolo was a silver medalist in the final round of the NJSIAA Girls Wrestling tournament, North Region, 185-pound match, NJ.com reported, when DiPaolo faced Amanda Pace from North Bergen Girls Wrestling on Saturday. DiPaolo, a senior, was the team’s first female competitor in wrestling in 2021, when she took a bronze medal in the state championship.

On Sunday, Washington Township Mayor Matt Murello recognized the boys basketball team and DiPaolo, in separate congratulatory posts, on his social media page.
