Woman Who Died In Long Valley Crash Identified: Prosecutor

LONG VALLEY, NJ — A driver who was killed in a two-vehicle accident that shut down a section of Bartley Road on Tuesday has been identified, according to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

Gina Pateman, 52, of Califon, was one of the drivers in the crash, said Meghan Knab, a spokesperson for the prosecutor’s office.

Knab said Wednesday there were no other injuries. The investigation is ongoing and no further details have been released, she also said.

Washington Township police initially alerted drivers that the road was blocked on Tuesday because of the accident, which happened at about 9:30 a.m. between North and South 4 Bridges Roads. Drivers were then told to take alternate routes away from the scene.

At about 10:22 a.m., police said the road was closed at the intersection of Coleman Road, Chancellor Way and North and South 4 Bridges Roads. The road was reopened at about 1:45 p.m.

The original call dispatched on Tuesday at 9:33 a.m. was for a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Another call to first responders came at 9:37 a.m. with "confirmed entrapment" and a "possible unconscious person." At 9:41 a.m. another call was made to fire departments to set up a medevac landing zone. The landing zone at Palmer Park was canceled at 9:45 a.m. in this call.

At 11:09 a.m. dispatchers called Long Valley fire, fire rescue and EMS crews back to the scene for an extrication, requesting no lights or sirens to returning crews. The call can be heard here.
