Got Styrofoam? Expanded Recycling Program Available In Madison
Recycling helps conserve resources and aids in the reduction of landfill waste in landfills and incinerators.
MADISON, NJ — With the holidays approaching, Madison Borough officials reminded the public that the Madison Recycling Center now accepts #6 EPS Expanded Polystyrene, also known as Styrofoam.
Earlier this year, the Madison Borough reached an agreement with a Styrofoam recycling vendor in Springfield Township, allowing all residents the ability to bring any foam material items to the recycling center.
The Madison Borough Recycling Center is located on Station Road and is open on Tuesdays and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Acceptable recyclable foam material items include white, clean Styrofoam. Generally, furniture, appliances and electrical fixtures are packed in recyclable foam material.
All accepted Styrofoam must be clean and white, with no tape, stickers, cardboard, or labels, as well as no dirt, dust, or paint on the surface.

The following items are not accepted for recycling:
- Food service foam
- Colored foam
- Meat trays
- Packing peanuts or foam
- Styrofoam cups
All donated Styrofoam will be brought to Foam Pack Industries, where it will be recycled.
Foam Pack Industries currently recycles over 40,000 pounds of EPS foam per month and 500,000 pounds per year. In addition, they serve 10 counties, 20 municipalities and over 50 businesses that participate in their current recycling program.
