Longtime High School Teacher And Author In Bergen County Dies In Mahwah

Services will be held this week for a woman who taught at a Bergen County public high school for 26 years, then wrote a book about it.

MAHWAH, NJ — Most teachers don't become famous or wealthy, but they'll influence thousands of lives. Carol "Mrs. Mitch" Miccinilli of Mahwah did so for more than 20 years in a Bergen County public school — and then she published a book about what she learned.

Miccinilli died on Saturday at age 81, according to her obituary.

"Mrs. Mitch" taught at Ramsey High School for 26 years, and "Her passion for teaching was forever evident throughout her life," says her obit.

When she was preparing to retire five years ago, in 2019, she self published a book, "Unfinished People," about what she learned from her more than 4,500 students (find it here on Amazon).

"What could they possibly teach me? Much!" Miccinilli wrote in her book description. "Answers to these questions along with other shared experiences with teens and colleagues, become the curriculum for my tales. Would you like to meet me and my extended family of 'unfinished people'?"
