Bergen Pizza Joint Among Best Old-School Pizzerias In USA

A Bergen County pizzeria was named among the greatest old-school pizzerias in the United States recently.

The Daily Meal recently published its list of the greatest old-school pizzerias in the United States and Pizza Town USA in Elmwood Park made the list.

"Pizza Town USA is located right where the Garden State Parkway meets Route 46, and we bet that lots of people have pulled off of those highways for a slice after seeing its legendary, All-American signage, which dates back to the 1950s and glows in neon at night," The Daily Meal said. "That 1950s vibe carries over into the interior: You walk up to a window (one for whole pies; another for calzones, zeppoles and slices; and another for subs), place your order, grab a table in the sun-drenched dining area, and bask in the warm glow of nostalgia."

Eleven pizzerias, including Pizza Town USA, from New Jersey made the list. The 10 others were: Reservoir Tavern of Boonton, Rome Pizza of Dunellen, Santillo's Brick Oven Pizza and Spirito's Restaurant, both of Elizabeth, Star Tavern of Orange, Vic's Italian Restaurant in Bradley Beach, Benny Tudino's of Hoboken, Conte's in Princeton, Papa's Tomato Pies in Robbinsville, and Patsy's Tavern in Paterson.
