Call For Artists To Busk In Downtown Hackensack
A Hackensack nonprofit, in an effort to stimulate downtown, is calling local artists to apply to a summer busking program.

HACKENSACK, NJ — A Hackensack nonprofit focused on arts and civic engagement is calling local artists to apply to the Busking Street Performance Program, sponsored by Sack Business Alliance, a public-private partnership with a task to transform downtown Hackensack, a June 15 news release said.
“This is a great opportunity for local performers and artists to be paid for publicly showcasing their talent," said Danielle De Laurentis, associate director of the nonprofit, the Northern New Jersey Community Foundation. "The city of Hackensack receives the benefits of an enlivened downtown district through the arts. It’s a win-win for all involved."
The nonprofit, through its ArtsBergen initiative, which is a Bergen County arts alliance, has implemented the summer busking program to promote community engagement with arts and culture and stimulate the downtown economy, the nonprofit said in the news release.

The arts alliance invites musicians and performers age 18 or older to apply for a paid opportunity to busk on Fridays at designated locations on and around Main Street in Hackensack. Interested artists should submit an application by July 8.
"The program reinforces the Sack Business Alliance's and the city's commitment to public art and the value the arts bring to the downtown's redevelopment," the Northern New Jersey Community Foundation said in the release.
