Early Dismissal Called For Mahwah Despite 'Decrease' In Snowfall
Mahwah said they'll close school early even though the predicted accumulation of snow has decreased. Here's why.
MAHWAH, NJ — After adopting a "wait and see" attitude regarding the predicted snowfall Friday, the Mahwah schools announced late Friday morning that they'll close early.
They noted, "There is an early dismissal for today, January 19, 2024, for all Mahwah schools. Please follow the early dismissal/single session schedule for each school.
"We have been tracking the weather overnight and into the morning. Understanding that the accumulation predictions have decreased, there is still concern that the snowfall through the day will be connected with freezing temperatures and can cause slippery conditions for the afternoon/evening commute. To ensure a safe commute home for our students and staff, Mahwah Schools will have an early dismissal this afternoon. Mahwah will follow a single session schedule at each school."
