Saddle River May Flood In Lodi, Warning Issued In Bergen: NWS

The National Weather Service issued a flood warning Thursday night into early Friday morning, as heavy rain moves through New Jersey.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for Bergen County Thursday night into early Friday morning, as heavy rain moves through New Jersey.

Near Lodi, the warning holds until 6 a.m. Friday, as there is a chance the Saddle River may flood.

At 6 feet, minor flooding will occur in parts of Lodi. The river is expected to crest at 6.5 feet, the NWS said.

The weather agency said more than two inches of rain have already fallen in some parts of northeast New Jersey. Another inch to inch and a half is possible in Bergen County.

"Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring," the NWS said. "Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in urban areas."

The warning is in effect until 12:15 a.m. Friday. Rain will continue until after 2 a.m., radar shows.

Hackensack, Paramus, Ridgewood, and Bergenfield are likely to experience flooding, the NWS said.
