Let It Snow, Let It Snow: More Snowfall Totals For Bergen County

More than 7-inches of snow have been reported in one Bergen County community. Here's where.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — The National Weather Service expects snowy conditions to improve around lunchtime, but snowfall has already altered normal operations in many North Jersey communities, Bergen County included.

Schools in much of the county have closed, and municipal buildings have either done the same, or delayed opening.

Snowfall totals have begun to come in from the National Weather Service, but those numbers are still limited.

Here are the totals so far, as of 12:36 p.m. on Friday:

  • Closter — 7.3 in.
  • Lyndhurst — 6 in.
  • East Rutherford — 5.6 in.
  • Fair Lawn — 5.4 in.
  • Washington Township — 4.9 in.
  • Westwood — 4.8 in.
  • Ridgewood — 4.7 in.
  • Franklin Lakes — 4.3 in.
  • Mahwah — 4 in.
  • Park Ridge — 3.9 in.

    Bergen County Department of Public Works employees began preparing for the storm yesterday, as forecasters predicted potentially "treacherous" roadway conditions during the morning commute. Read more: Snow Could Affect Bergen County Commuters On Friday

    The county reported on Thursday that they had over 100 county snow plows, salt trucks, and other vehicles available for deployment, with nearly 100 workers on call.

    "The County’s snow response team is in full action. Over the course of today, our team has prepped vehicles and equipment for deployment in anticipation of the storm, distributed salt to municipalities, brined hills, and planned plowing shifts and routes," county officials said.

    Gov. Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency on Thursday, which went into effect at 10 p.m. Murphy recommended that anyone who can work remotely or start later in the day should do so.

    Snowfall is also having impacts on NJ Transit in the area.
