Mahwah Board of Ed Introduces $57.2M Budget

The board also said that personnel reductions are possible in the future, since the school population has decreased since 2011.

Mahwah’s Board of Education said there may be personnel reductions in the future while introducing a $57.2 million budget for the 2015-2016 school year during last week’s meeting.

The preliminary budget is $1,121,938 more than last year’s budget, and would increase taxes by $47 for home owners with homes valued at $470,000, NorthJersey.com reported.

The Board of Education also said that since the total school population had steadily decreased since 2011, the board will “reexamine its staffing and move to eliminate teachers and sections in pre-K through middle school grades.”
